| So. I'm here. I made it safely, and I'm HERE. At the Grand Canyon. I still can't believe I am here. God is so kind and compassionate and merciful and loving towards me for having me here in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I love Him for it. Travels: So, I left the Minneapolis airport around 9 am on Saturday the 16th of May. I arrived in Phoenix, Arizona around 10:30 am. The flight went great--no problems, and the people I sat next to were fun to chat with. I got to the airport and started walking towards baggage claim, looking for anyone who might fit the description of "Pastor Rick" -- I didn't see any people holding signs for a "Amy Myhre" but I was about to walk down the escalator, when someone stopped me and said, "Amy........?" "Yes!!" They found me! Hugs all around from people I didn't know--but will soon know very well by the end of this summer. I met Pastor Rick and his wife, Joyce... along with their son Jeremy and his wife Krystal, and the one of the first people from our team that I met was Amour. We spent the rest of the time in the airport looking for my checked luggage, and then hanging around getting to know eachother at the airport as we waited for the rest of the team to arrive, 4 from Tennesee and 2 from Texas. Another one of our team members was already at the Canyon that day. So, I ate lunch and hung out with them. And then finally the rest showed up! Introductions were made, and then we headed to the van to fill up our luggage. We ate dinner at In-And-Out, an amazing hamberger place where the only option for a meal were: hambergers!! haha. but it was quite delicious. We then made a stop at Wal-mart and shopped for food, and other supplies that we may need for this next week and the rest of the summer. I was told to buy vasilene because you need to put that in your nose before you go to bed at night, otherwise you may end up with bloody noses throughout the day at the canyon because there is so much dry heat! Then we continued our trip, which took a total of four hours. I remember looking out the window and seeing a landscape that is very different from what I'm used to in Minnesota. Mountains. Cactuses. Dirt. But, it was another part of God's beautiful creation. We stopped at a gas station near Flagstaff--then continued to the Grand Canyon. We never actually saw it that night--but the stars were incredible. I have never seen so many stars in my life. We finally made it to the place we would be living for the whole summer. Apartment style--there are two rooms for the girls, I'm staying in the room with four girls. We each have our own bathroom. And we also have a kitchen and living room in our place. Un-packing was insane. I realized quickly, I had too many clothes! haha. But I soon went to bed, ready for the next day--the Lord's Day. Sunday: This day we went to the Shrine of the Ages--where Pastor Rick would be preaching that day. He introduced us to the rest of the congregation that day. Worship was incredible--I could feel God's presence all around me. I am excited to be going to this church all summer. Pastor Rick also told us that each of us in the team would be giving our testimonies on Sundays--I'm excited! :) ...After church, we headed out to the canyon to see it for the first time--at least, most of us in the group have never seen it before. It was incredible. I stood there speechless. There are no words to describe its beauty. God really did a neat job--He is such a creative God!! And just the vastness of the canyon blew me away--but then quickly realizing that OUR GOD is BIGGER!! It just astounds me. After seeing the canyon for the first time, we headed to Bible study at the school here in the National Park. We discussed Micah chapter one. The rest of that day we relaxed. Then later, we had a scavenger hunt around the National Park so that we could get a feel for where everything is! It was fun--but our group was slow because we mostly went sight-seeing then actually finding the answers to the questions! haha. So, I took many pictures of the Canyon during the scavenger hunt. There are many interesting things though that are just part of the history here at the Canyon, like the Harvey Girls and John Westly Powell--they all have parts to play in its history. Monday: This day was our day off! We didn't have to start orientation or training yet for our jobs. So, we spent most of it just hiking around and continually finding our way around the Park. It was fun! We went to the General Store--the place we will be working. Then we went to the deli and bought some lunch where we would then take it out to the Rim and eat our lunch out there. It was incredible once again. God's beauty displayed in the canyon continues to take my breath away. Later that night, a bunch of us went out to a different part of the canyon to see the sunset--we didn't see a whole lot of the sunset though because there were clouds in the way--but it was still beautiful. I loved it. Today is our first day of orientation. I have the morning to rest, but the rest of the day will be busy busy busy!! I am excited though for this great opportunity that God has given me to serve Him here at the Grand Canyon National Park. I am excited for the ministry that is being accomplished here and can't wait to have my part in it! I can't wait for my job--and to meet all the people who will be working alongside us from all different countries--France, Russia, Ecuador, Brazil, Taiwan.... all over!!! I am also very excited for being out in nature!!! We will definitely be able to hike many times during our time here--down into the canyon where the Colorado River is--and all along the Rim. I am hoping to be able to see the North Rim side of the canyon--we are on the South. And it will be great to go camping in the Grand Canyon too! I still can't believe I am here--never would I have guessed that I would ever be able to see this or be here!! But God continues to surprise me--and with that, I am thankful for. :) Continue to pray for us--as the summer goes on, I will be updating this with more specific prayer requests. God bless everyone!!!! :D - a m y - | | |
| Hello Everyone, It definitely has been a while since I have updated my xanga. I hope you all have been doing well! So, I am just updating you all on my summer plans. I am hoping that you all could keep my in your prayers this summer as I will be serving with the North American Mission Board in Arizona. I will be praying for you all as well. God is doing exciting things with His children this summer!! God bless you all! In Him, Amy Myhre
Summer Plans: I will be serving this summer as an innovator missionary of the North American Mission Board (NAMB) in the Grand Canyon region of Arizona. The purpose of this ministry is to challenge college students to respond to God's call in mission service, to utilize the skills, interests, and abilities of college students in meeting missions needs related to evangelism and church planting, to help students discover their interests and aptitudes in mission service, and to provide practical missions experiences that result in training potential missions personnel. My assignment period will be from May 16th to August 8th. I will be flying to Phoenix, Arizona from the Minneapolis airport on Saturday the 16th at 9:05 am. I will return on Saturday the 8th at 5:35 pm. Part of the Innovator Missionary Program is that I will have a job during the summer. This will give me the opportunity to be a witness while on the job. It is also great for a college student because I will be receiving more funds which are necessary to continue to go to college. However, my primary focus for this summer is to be an evangelistic witness for Christ. Here is the description of the place I will be serving this summer: "The students assigned to this ministry will work along side Pastor Rick and his wife, Joyce, in the General Store, setting a godly example to co-workers, community members, and visitors. This will be the Innovator's primary ministry responsibility, but in addition to their work in the store, they will be ministering alongside the members of Grand Canyon Baptist Church in their mission to the resort known as Grand Canyon National Park. These ministries will include, but not limited to: relational evangelism, rim ministry (working along the top and below the canyon rim), and ministering to internationals. This ministry has been established for over 30 years. Students can use this time in their lives to explore their call or possible call to missions (local or international). Serving at the Grand Canyon, Innovators will have the opportunity to meet and work with people from all around the world, from places like China, Russia, Taiwan, and Thailand." Prayer Requests: 1) Pray that many people will hear the Good News of Jesus Christ for the first time this summer in Arizona! 2) Pray that I could be a bold witness for Christ in sharing my faith with others. Pray that there will not be any fears or anxieties that could prevent our team from proclaiming the gospel in Arizona. 3) Pray that our team will continue to prepare themselves for this summer through: making personal spiritual preparation by setting a time aside for daily Bible study and prayer, participating in outreach missions opportunities, and developing the right attitude toward missions involvement; a willingness to work; openness for caring and sharing; and an awareness of other cultures, races, ethnic groups, and religions. 4) Pray that God will open doors for service and involvement in the lives of non-Christians in Arizona. 5) Pray for safe travels; that God will keep everyone safe on the road and in the air while arriving, departing, and throughout the summer. 6) Pray for team unity with the other college students and with our local leader, Pastor Rick. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this! I really hope and pray that you could support me in the area of prayer this summer! Prayer is powerful; and God will answer the prayers of His faithful children! I will continue to keep you all updated on everything this summer, whenever I get the free time to do so! Thank you all again! God bless!! -Amy Myhre :)

| An Illustration “Let’s say you had two jobs. Both of them at a restaurant called Charlie’s. One’s in the west end, one’s in the east end. At both Charlie’s you have the exact same job—you’re a cook. Short order, making fish and chips, club sandwiches, fries on the side, no pickles; cleaning the grill, cleaning out the grease trap, taking out the garbage—you’re a cook! The kitchen at the Charlie’s in the west end is just like the kitchen at the Charlie’s in the east end. You’re a cook in both places. At one Charlie’s your boss is a guy named Moe (short for Moses). Moe is excruciatingly fair. He tells you every day when you get in to work, 'You do everything I tell you, and you’ll keep your job. And if you don’t, you’re outta here.' He’s not overly rigid, but he expects perfection. He’s righteous and he’s fair. On your best days, you want to do a good job for Moe. You try your very best, but even then you’re messing up the pickles, you’re messing up the fries, you’re getting the orders wrong. Then some days you’re just livid with Moe. You could care less about what he thinks, you’re just sneaking out back for an extra break, and you have no interest in even obeying him. And every day at the end of your shift, he reams you out, and he wails on you perfectly fairly, and he tells you everything you know is right and true: You’re a bad worker, you’re a bad cook. And he outta fire you on the spot, like he promised. You’re gonna be fired real, real soon. Your shifts over. It was hell. It was misery. You drive across town to the other Charlie’s where you’re boss’ name is Jesús. And he tells you, 'You worked a terrible shift last night, but I stayed late and cleaned up your mess. I covered everything you did wrong. And my Father who owns this place is delighted with you and your work, and I want you to know that you will never lose this job, and you're gonna own this restaurant someday. And now I want you to get to work—clean the grease trap, and clean the grill, and make the orders, and get to work.' In both places you are called to do the same things. Under Moses and under Christ (though there are differences), at the end of the day you are called to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. What you are actually called to do is the same, but the boss you are under is completely different. The covenant you are under is completely different. You are not under Moses who says, 'do this and live.' But you are under Christ who says, 'I promise you I’ve done everything for your justification, I’ve done everything for you to earn your inheritance. You are my family, my offspring, now LOVE. Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t steal, don’t murder. Love ME and love the brethren and fulfill my law.' Now does it make a big difference in what you do who your boss is? Not completely. But does it make a huge difference in how you do it?—From the joy that’s in your heart, and the glory? Do you understand why a man would labor to get you to know this? May God seal these truths to our hearts forever.” --Ryan Fullerton (Pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky) http://www.ibclouisville.org/sermon/02-07-2009/gods-covenants-are-not-added-or-annuled (feel free to listen to the whole message!)

| [You know what it is I love it Let's talk about it] Your boy's been a Christian, quite a few years Victory and faith, but I failed in my fears I heard a lot of words that have tickled many ears That's why I praise God for the Word that we adhere The Word became flesh, lived for thirty years Died at 33, but after days reappeared Jesus Christ anointed one ascended in the air Or you can say the air where the Father made Him heir Of all things the throne know it's more than a chair But after our redemption yes He did take a chair Greater than the angels name superior to theirs This is Hebrews Chapter 1 if you cared I'm leaning to the right The light is where I'm running I thought I wanted life, drunk, sexed out and blunted But all I really wanted was the One who really won it Fought death, beat it gave His life to the public I love it!
Angels surrounding His throne and Worthy is the Lamb who was slain The whole earth is full of His glory All nations bow to His name His majesty fills the Heavens Our hearts give thunderous praise Declare the Lord is forever Make a joyful noise in this place
Man I'm trying to life Him high Higher than the stars I am not of this world like I'm from the planet mars I love to preach Jesus you can read it in my bars I'm pretty straight forward when I'm speaking bout my Lord He paid the sin price being beat by Roman guards But when He resurrected gave us life free of charge Now me and my boys need to be in a psych ward Cause we went crazy for God our lives was scared Now in the Book of Life, our names have been written down We're casting our crowns before His feet on the ground It's such a holy melody and a heavenly sound Hearing holy holy holy coming out of the mouth Of the four living creatures by His throne all around Can you picture the scene this this is how it's going down You just need a little faith and a new set of eyes and a telescopic lens to look in and see God I love it!
Angels surrounding His throne and Worthy is the Lamb who was slain The whole earth is full of His glory All nations bow to His name His majesty fills the Heavens Our hearts give thunderous praise Declare the Lord is forever Make a joyful noise in this place
One day we gon' be out man, like three strikes And home son like a homerun CHRIST IS - KING - LION - LAMB - GOD - MAN - SIN CONQUEROR - GRAVE CONQUEROR - SATAN CONQURER Can take a sinner, atheist sinner to God conscience Can take nothing Make creation and lives honor The same God that came through a fetus as Jesus Limited to breathing Got believers singing
Angels surrounding His throne and Worthy is the Lamb who was slain The whole earth is full of His glory All nations bow to His name His majesty fills the Heavens Our hearts give thunderous praise Declare the Lord is forever Make a joyful noise in this place
--Joyful Noise-- by Flame. (HE'S BETTER THAN TOBY MAC. YEA.)
